Rocky Outcrop, Utah
Notecard, 8 x 10 Matted Print, 11 x 14 Matted Print
Many of the natural, as opposed to synthetic, pigments the watercolor artist gets to use are the ‘earth’ colors. One cannot help but to notice the changing colors of the rock formations throughout the southwest. This print is of my painting of a scene I saw northeast of Escalante National Monument and south of the main part of Capital Reef. If I were a geologist I’d ‘read’ these colors and other characteristics and be able to gauge the geologic age of the different landscapes I was traveling through.
